DESCRIPTION

THE AGENCY Zone 7 Water Agency is located in the Tri-Valley region of the eastern San Francisco Bay Area. It provides water on a wholesale basis to the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and the Dougherty Valley area of San Ramon, and flood-protection services to all of eastern Alameda County. Zone 7 employs approximately 116 full-time employees and operates on an annual budget of $80.3 million dollars.

The Agency’s administrative offices are located in Livermore, CA, the easternmost city of Alameda County, which is bordered by Contra Costa County to the north and San Joaquin County to the east. THE POSITION

Under general direction, plans, organizes, develops, implements, coordinates, and administers Zone 7 Water Agency’s environmental, health and safety, and emergency management program, which includes safety training, investigations, and assuring compliance with applicable state and federal health and safety regulations. This position will exercise judgment and initiative; maintains written procedures, reports, and compliance programs and makes recommendations as needed; on the coordination safety-training programs and Agency’s emergency management plan, and perform other duties as assigned.

The Environmental Health and Safety Program Manager, Zone 7 classification is a single position located in the Maintenance Division within the Zone 7 Water Agency and reports to the Maintenance Manager, Zone
7. This employee will be responsible for performing administrative environmental, health and safety, and emergency response duties in support of the Agency’s program and functions and providing first-line supervision to assigned safety staff. This position serves as an active and visible proponent of safety and emergency preparedness, fostering an Agency-wide safety culture that values and respects all contributions while ensuring the Agency’s compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
