Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineer
Overview:
We are seeking an expert in metrology and characterization to design and develop characterization and metrology systems appropriate for quality inspection in the mass production of high precision inertial fusion energy (IFE) targets and components thereof. IFE targets are assemblages of thin films, and cylindrical and spherical shells. Production rates at the ten Hertz level expected. Both online and batch systems are anticipated.
Inspection techniques include optical and x-ray measurements.
Design and develop metrology and characterization inspection systems for IFE target components.
Design and develop metrology and characterization inspection systems for assembled IFE targets.
Design and develop metrology and characterization inspection systems for IFE target fuel layers.
Develop operating procedures for inspection systems and analyze test results from inspection systems.
Assist with other power plant metrology projects such as target tracking, and laser and optical components.
Required:
PhD or MS, or experience equivalent, in Optical Sciences, Photonics, Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to design and develop high precision measurement systems.
Experience implementing automated measurement systems.
Strong analytical data/measurement skills.
Preferred:
Experience with design, development, and operation of metrology systems for inertial fusion targets or laser targets.
Experience with optical, x-ray, and laser measurement techniques at the micron and sub-micron level.
Experience with acoustical measurement techniques.
Experience integrating measurement and inspection systems with defective product removal systems.
