Job PurposeProvide safety leadership for our Livermore corporate office. Develops, implements and monitors company safety programs and policies. Ensures compliance with government health and safety regulations. Conducts Emergency Response Team (ERT) and other employee training in emergency response, life safety, and chemical and fire hazards. Responds to emergencies, incidents and accidents; investigates causes and recommends corrective actions. Conducts safety surveys to identify and mitigate occupational hazards.
Completes required federal, state and local government reports relating to safety. Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections. Interacting with a variety of departments, conducts training in emergency response and hazardous material handling.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and conduct safety inspections following our process in Maintain
X such as; - Fire Extinguisher inspection
- Emergency Exit Lights inspection (Battery Replacement)
- AED inspection (Emergency kit)
- Continue with the development, implementation and administration of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System to create a strong safety culture.
- Establish and administer EHS policies, procedures, and programs across the organization to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance. Recommend and implement changes in accordance with changes in local, state, and federal laws.
- Lead the global safety committee meetings and projects working collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Oversee the delivery of EHS training for employees, identifying appropriate and relevant content providers and recommending required courses to administer.
- Work collaboratively with business operations to implement safety and health initiatives including Safe Job Procedures, Standard Practices, PPE requirements, etc. in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Provide direction for the day-to-day chemical management system.
- Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, site remediation, and closure of corrective actions as needed.
- Perform detailed audits and inspections per ISO 45001, CalOSHA, OSHA, EPA, ANSI, NIOSH, NEC, NFPA and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead and/or participate in facilities projects and activities as required.
- Oversee installation/removal of equipment.
- Source and obtain estimates for work to be performed by outside contractors.
Education and Experience:
- 4 years+ working in a facilities safety role
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Safety program management to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT/IATA etc.
- Requires Excellent communication skills, computer skills using MS office software applications.
- College or trade school degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- The safety engineer is expected to be a hands-on team member.
- Team player willing to work with peers on simple and complex projects.
- Keeps open communication with peers and manager.
- Schedule flexibility is a must.
- Frequently lift equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to kneel, squat, climb ladders, twist, turn and reach to complete a variety of job duties.
- Must be able to respond 24 hours/day for emergency and safety issues at the facilities.
- Working Conditions:
Onsite 5 days a week during core hours 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm. - Ability to work outside in hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time.
- May require handling or exposure to chemicals.
Expected Base Pay Range: $76,000 to $95,000 Annualized
The base pay range included is a projected hiring range for a position, level and potential work location(s) listed. Topcon provides the compensation range that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.
