Job DescriptionMSTS manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration. Our mission is to ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high‑hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, field, and integration services.
We employ more than 2,750 professionals who innovate, collaborate, and deliver on complex nuclear security challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Lead two separate groups – Diagnostic Field Services and Production Engineering.
- Support technicians and scientists in solving complex National Security Enterprise problems at laboratories and field locations, including the National Ignition Facility.
- Manage CAD and mechanical engineering experts, supporting projects at LLNL, SNL, LANL, and NNSS.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain staff; enforce safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Maintain earned‑value work‑package management for NNSS technical projects.
- Contribute as a technical professional in CAD, automation, or other engineering tasks.
- Occasional travel to other MSTS sites.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; minimum 11 years of progressive experience.
- Proficiency in computerized data acquisition, CAD, test & measurement technology, and instrumentation control.
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) and Configuration Management (CM).
- Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and foster continuous improvement.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical ability to pass pre‑placement examination and drug screening.
The position requires a Department of Energy Q‑level security clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and able to obtain and maintain the clearance.
