The Instructional Designer will support the development and maintenance of training programs across multiple learning modalities. This role focuses on designing and maintaining instructor‑led, web‑based, and self‑paced learning materials while collaborating with senior instructional designers, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders. The designer will follow structured instructional design methodologies, including ADDIE and adult learning theory, to create effective learning solutions. This role requires strong communication, technical writing, and collaboration skills to ensure training programs meet organizational standards and learning objectives.
This assignment is primarily remote with minimal travel requirements and provides an opportunity to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative learning development environment supporting technical training initiatives.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks on courses and learning components across multiple training modalities.
- Collaborate with Senior Instructional Designers and stakeholders to conceptualize training design and content.
- Establish learning objectives, define course structure, develop content, and create assessments.
- Conduct detailed analyses of existing materials and relevant tasks to support training design.
- Develop learning materials aligned with company standards, guidelines, and templates.
- Design instructional PowerPoint presentations for web‑based and instructor‑led training.
- Create student guides, facilitator guides, learning activities, scenarios, and assessments.
- Lead virtual meetings with subject matter experts for task analysis and content review sessions.
- Maintain engagement with subject matter experts to validate training content and integrate feedback.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables while proactively communicating potential issues or risks.
- Work effectively within a collaborative team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Minimum 3+ years of instructional design experience developing instructor‑led, web‑based, or virtual training.
- Experience creating self‑paced training programs across multiple learning modalities.
- Experience working in technical or operational training environments.
- Proven experience designing structured training programs using established instructional methodologies.
- Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Experience with in the utility or energy industry.
- Experience developing technical training programs.
- Experience using learning management systems or learning portals.
- Experience with specialized authoring tools and learning platforms.
