Instructional Designer - Training Curriculum Development

Job Title:

Instructional Designer - Training Curriculum Development.

Location:

Livermore, CA.

• Primary designer and developer for instructor-led, web-based, and on-the-job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry.
• Leverage and apply established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training.
• Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media.
• Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize training in design and content.
• Define learning objectives, and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment.
• Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates.
• Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience.
• Lead milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and train the trainer.
• Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.
• Receive and incorporate feedback.
• Self-managed tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables.
• Proactively communicate issues and risks.

• 3 years' experience developing instructor-led training and on-the-job tasks for technical skills.
• 3 years of experience with Storyline, Question Mark and Author-It.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design and methodologies.
• Proven experience performing task analysis.
• Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver against multiple competing deadlines, as needed.
• Experience developing technical training for adult learners.
• Client's Academy experience a plus.

• Proven experience designing and developing technical training for adult learners.
• Strong ability to perform detailed task analysis and apply instructional design methodologies.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality training materials on time.

• Technical: Expertise with Storyline, Question Mark, and Author-It; solid knowledge of adult learning theory; proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

• A portfolio/work samples must be provided for consideration.

• Technical writing experience a plus.
• Utility experience a plus.
