Position Summary
Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer I supports manufacturing operations by sustaining, implementing, and improving production processes for mechanical components and assemblies. This entry-level role focuses on process execution, documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while building foundational manufacturing engineering skills.
Essential Functions- Support existing manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and quality production.
- Maintain and update manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, Bills of Material, inspection criteria, and other controlled documents.
- Support investigation, documentation, and timely processing of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including data collection, review of drawings/specifications, and coordination with Quality and Engineering.
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to manufacturing and NCR findings.
- Support implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and controlled document updates.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve routine manufacturing challenges.
- Participate in data collection and basic analysis to support process monitoring and improvement efforts.
- Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and validation activities as assigned.
- Assist with non-conformance investigations and corrective action activities.
- Follow established safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Advanced degree is desirable.
- 2+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer (or equivalent) with regulated environment experience preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Six Sigma, SPC).
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Working knowledge of quality systems, NCR processes, and root cause analysis methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings; basic understanding of GD&T.
- Experience with common manufacturing processes, including fabrication, machining, and mechanical assembly.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works).
- Knowledge of tooling and mechanical assembly techniques for multi-component systems.
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
- Required use of standard office equipment including laptop, phone, copier, etc.
- Typical office environment.
- Must be able to walk through the factory environment safely.
- The employee will work in high magnetic fields, with high voltages, and with radiation and radioactive materials.
- The employee may be involved in light rigging operations.
- Due to the work environment, persons with pacemakers are not eligible for this position.
The hiring range represents what Mevion Medical Systems, Inc. reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and other job‑related factors.
