Hours

Four hours a day, split shift (6:30 – 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.)

Job Description

Provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District’s curriculum and extra‑curricular programs.

Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Motor vehicle record in good standing checked prior to and annually.
  • Minimum of 8 hours pre‑service training for appropriate vehicle.
  • Minimum of 6 hours in‑service training annually.
  • Pass an appropriate CDE written test annually with 80% score or better.
  • Complete a driving performance evaluation prior to and annually.
  • Acquire a CPR/First Aid certificate within 90 days after initial employment and renew every 2 years thereafter.
  • Complete a DOT physical at initial employment and renew when applicable.
  • Acquire and possess thereafter a CO CDL with “S” and “P” endorsements.
  • Complete and pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test and participate in the school district’s drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Receive mountain and adverse weather driver training and pass a written test with an 80% or better.
  • Participate in the district’s fingerprint and background check program.
  • Reports to:

    Transportation Director

    Performance Responsibilities
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintain student discipline on the bus.
  • Report rule infractions to the proper authority (Transportation Director).
  • Keep bus clean inside and out.
  • Maintain assigned schedule.
  • Perform and document a pre/post trip inspection before/after each run.
  • Report vehicle defects to the transportation director in a timely manner.
  • Discharge students at authorized stops.
  • Exercise responsible leadership when on out‑of‑district trips.
  • Transport only authorized students and staff.
  • Report all accidents to the transportation director immediately.
  • Inform transportation director of absences in a timely manner and complete paperwork.
  • Insure route changes are approved by the transportation director.
  • Complete daily mileage logs and submit them at the end of each month.
  • Operate a two‑way radio.
  • Make suggestions for improving the transportation system.
  • Abide by directives which may come from the superintendent, principals and transportation director as the situation may require.
