Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in the Emergency Room in accordance with state scope and practice standards. In collaboration with medical providers and care team members, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers.

  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after interventions.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers and document care in the patient medical record promptly.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs proactively.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology for understanding.
  • Teach non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes, preparing patients for self‑management.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse license in Colorado or a multistate license.
  • Registered Nurse diploma; BSN preferred.
  • Two or more years of Emergency Room experience preferred.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course or Trauma Nurse Specialist obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
