Job Description

Performs specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including holter/event monitor application, signal-averaged EKG, and treadmill stress tests. Responds immediately to Code Blue situations. Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper function and machine calibration, and informs biomed when malfunctions occur. Recognizes and acts upon unusual heart rhythms or patient responses by informing the primary healthcare team promptly. Troubleshoots and corrects recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings.

Confirms patient information and identification prior to starting procedures. Processes patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards. Communicates clearly and courteously with patients, families, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and other departments. Provides emotional support to patients. Maintains patient confidentiality and serves as a patient advocate. Other duties as assigned. Presents all urgent electrocardiogram results to appropriate personnel immediately after completion.

Performs routine and emergency electrocardiograms (EKGs) as ordered by physicians.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care addressing the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety age-appropriate needs of the patient
