Job Summary

Under minimum supervision, this position includes the daily management of new and existing systems, developing new financial systems, and the maintenance, monitoring, and enhancement of existing systems. This role will evaluate the adequacy of and implement improvements to those systems in accordance with FASB, IRS, and SEC regulations. Systems may include General Accounting and Cost Accounting.

Essential Duties
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors financial systems to ensure integrity in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Terumo BCT accounting procedures.
  • Interprets outside generated requirements and practices and determines their applicability to the business.
  • Analyzes problems and implements solutions to ensure consistency and accuracy of the financial systems; represents the department or company with internal and external customers to resolve non-routine problems.
  • Ensures inventories are properly valued in accordance with GAAP and assets are safely guarded.
  • Provides training on transactions and procedures to internal customers as required.
  • Computes and analyzes manufacturing variances and reviews with manufacturing personnel, providing timely cost accounting information and analysis.
  • Evaluates existing procedures related to inventory and production, tracks weaknesses, and implements improvements.
  • Develops and maintains master data for standard costs of assigned product lines and monitors actual performance against standards; executes annual cost roll.
  • Works cross-functionally with business partners to prepare full profit and loss plans for assigned product lines and develop cost estimates of new products.
  • Analyzes General Ledger or sub-system output for consistency and accuracy and resolves questionable items.
  • Analyzes and summarizes accounting data and prepares explanatory comments for comparisons to other periods.
  • Assists department managers with their budgets.
  • Develops reporting capabilities and understanding of multiple system applications within the Terumo BCT environment.
  • Assists with month-end close processes for the factory, including review for completeness and running month-end jobs in SAP (Assessments, Rate Calc, WIP, Variance and Settlement).
  • Explains month-end variances and creates reports for upper management.
  • Responsible for forecasting process, understanding upcoming deviations from plan.
  • Attend Tier Meetings.
  • Additional job duties assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions.

Experience

Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • SAP experience preferred.
  • An advanced degree or certification (MBA, CCE, CMA or CPA) beneficial.

Skills

  • Technical knowledge of accounting requirements and practices from regulatory or professional outside agencies (FASB, IRS, SEC).
  • Strong cost accounting knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of assigned systems and processes.
  • Proficiency with PC software; ability to use applications effectively.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to deliver timely, high-quality, accurate work.
  • Strong organizational skills and productive work habits.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Prior ERP experience; SAP strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Power BI.
  • Understanding of journal entries and transactions.
