Automation Engineer

Note The position is fully onsite in Centennial, CO.

We are seeking a senior Automation Engineer with deep experience in Python-based lab automation and RF/system validation environments. This role is focused on building and enhancing automation infrastructure used to control test equipment and execute complex validation workflows.

This is not a general software development position. We are looking for an engineer who has hands‑on experience using Python to control lab instruments, automate engineering test cases, and operate within dynamic hardware validation labs.

• Design and develop scalable Python-based automation frameworks for lab validation.
• Translate existing engineering test procedures into structured automated scripts.
• Develop and execute automated test suites for RF, functional, performance, and system validation.
• Integrate and control lab equipment using SCPI, VISA/PyVISA, and vendor APIs.
• Automate interaction with RF and networking test instruments including:
  • Spectrum analyzers
  • Signal generators
  • Power meters
  • Traffic generators
• Build logging, data collection, reporting, and test orchestration tools.
• Troubleshoot automation failures, instrument communication issues, and lab inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and validation engineering teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of automation infrastructure.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Python-based automation within lab or validation environments.
• Strong Python proficiency with experience building automation frameworks (not just scripting).
• Hands‑on experience controlling test equipment using:
  • SCPI command sets
  • VISA / PyVISA
  • TCP/IP-based instrument communication
  • Serial (RS-232), GPIB, or USB interfaces
• Experience automating RF lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
• Experience working in a physical lab environment with hardware/system validation.
• Ability to convert engineering test plans into automated workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in hardware-software integrated environments.
• Comfortable working in Linux environments.
• Experience with Git-based version control.
