Lockheed Martin Space in Denver, CO has an immediate opening for a System Safety Engineer to help field a new weapon system that the nation urgently needs, the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI).
Learn more about the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) using this link In this role, you will use your expertise to ensure that safety is crafted into hardware and software products and that controls are incorporated and remain effective while assuring compliance to safety requirements.
• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Basic Qualifications:
• Familiarity or experience with engineering processes related to safety and risk management in an operations/ sustainment environment. Specifically, experience with processes as outlined in MIL-STD-882E, the System Safety Standard.
• US Citizenship required to start with the ability to acquire a Secret security clearance.
Desired
Skills:
• Experience in System Safety Engineering processes as outlined in MIL-STD-882E with strong technical skills in performing hazard analyses, identifying safety requirements, developing fault trees, and recommending risk mitigation.
• The ability to read software code and/or prior experience working with software requirements validation and verification is a highly desired skill.
• Prior experience working with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or other Department of Defense (DOD) customers.
• Familiarity or experience with missile systems, ordnance, and software.
• Understanding of incident investigations and root cause and corrective actions.
• Familiar with Software Engineering processes and agile SW development methods.
Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
