Sr Systems Engineer - System Safety Engineer
Lockheed Martin – Denver, CO
Job DescriptionLockheed Martin Space is seeking a mid‑career System Safety Engineer to join our team at our Denver, CO facility. This role will evaluate hardware and software to ensure mission success and support a range of safety documentation and review activities. The position requires strong system safety analysis skills, familiarity with relevant standards, and the ability to collaborate across engineering and safety teams.
Responsibilities- Develop and update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).
- Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and other safety review meetings.
- Support the development and updating of System Safety documents to meet Customer, Range Safety, and contractual requirements.
- Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements.
- Coordinate with test range safety teams and write range safety reports to support testing.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) that documents hazards, assessments, and mitigations.
- TS‑SCI with Poly.
- Experience using MIL‑STD‑882E, DO‑178C, AFSPCMAN 91‑710, or other relevant industry and/or range safety standards.
- Software system safety experience.
- Experience participating in DoD System Safety Working Groups.
- Familiarity with DOORs.
