B&W is seeking Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Engineering, or similar Engineering Technology graduates to join our team of talented Field Service Engineers. These engineers provide industry-leading expertise and support on a broad range of B&W utility, industrial, and environmental products to our customers.

A Field Service Engineer assists more experienced Service Engineers in performing pre-commissioning testing on boilers and environmental equipment, developing start-up schedules and procedures to ensure facilities meet pre-commissioning requirements. They also work on the maintenance, inspection, and operation of existing equipment to ensure reliable operations. The Engineer works with a Senior Service Engineer or team to learn about the equipment and operations, with the goal of becoming capable of working independently as a B&W representative at a customer’s plant.

This position requires extensive travel (90%), including driving on client/customer property.

Additional Duties of the Field Service Engineers Include:
  • Collecting and evaluating field data.
  • Working with customers, account executives, vendors, and sublet vendors with guidance from the District Engineer or senior engineers.
  • Preparing technical reports, including Service and Special Reports, Estimates, and Proposals.
  • Participating in project startups and outages as part of a team.
  • Working on existing equipment, including boiler inspections, repairs, condition assessments, and tuning.
  • Providing construction technical support and outage management.

Field Service is a fast-paced job offering great variety. Entry-level engineers work closely with senior engineers and the District Engineer. It offers a challenging and rewarding experience with a steep learning curve, developing practical knowledge of power plants and B&W products. The qualities we seek include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or similar Engineering Technology.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills and teamwork ability.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
