- Provide individual and/or small group instruction and implement strategies for students receiving special education support under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Execute team-designed behavior intervention plans and monitor/support students during school activities.
- Prepare and modify instructional materials and collect data for IEP goals and behavior plans.
- Monitor and provide feedback on student progress while maintaining student confidentiality.
- Adapt to changes in responsibilities and schedules.
- Assist students with mobility (including manual and motorized wheelchairs or walkers) and personal hygiene, including toileting when necessary.
- Perform personal care, feeding, safety, and supervision duties and provide medically delegated services when required.
- Maintain physical demands including manipulation of up to 50 lbs safely and exerting force as described in the physical demands section.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing, math, or school-readiness skills, or an Associate's degree.
- One year of experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- CPR and First Aid certifications within 3 months of hire.
- Participation in the nationally recognized, district-provided crisis prevention training within the first year of employment.
- Medication administration class may be required as determined by student need.
- Additional training may be required based on program need.
- The school day consists of direct contact with the students.
- Assist students with mobility (including manual and motorized wheelchairs or walkers).
- May need to assist students with toileting and personal hygiene.
- Must be able to manipulate 50 lbs safely.
- Physical Demands Factor-Medium Work:
Exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
7.25 hours per day at Field Elementary School | Work Calendar: 185 days | Starting salary:
Grade 5 starting at $21.17 per hour
