Responsibilities- Provide individual and/or small group instruction and implement strategies to students receiving special education support under supervision of licensed staff within the school environment (e.g., classroom, center-based program, cafeteria, playground, community).
- Support and monitor students during school activities; prepare and modify instructional materials; collect data for IEP goals and behavior plans; monitor and provide feedback on student progress; maintain student confidentiality.
- Assist students with mobility (including manual and motorized wheelchairs or walkers) and, as needed, assist with toileting and personal hygiene.
- Participate in behavior intervention plans and support independent decision-making within appropriate parameters.
- Perform personal care, feeding, safety and supervision; provide instruction and academic support as required.
- Assist with implementing program-specific needs and adapt to changes in responsibilities and schedules.
- Be prepared to support duties as assigned by licensed staff.
- High School Diploma
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing, math or school-readiness skills or an Associates degree
- One year experience working with students with disabilities is preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Criminal background check required for hire
- C and First Aid certifications within 3 months of hire
- Participation in crisis prevention training as provided by the district within the first year of employment
- Medication administration class may be required as determined by student need
- Additional training may be required based on program need
- Must be able to manipulate 50 lbs safely
- The school day consists of direct contact with the students
- Assist students with mobility (including manual and motorized wheelchairs or walkers)
- May need to assist students with toileting and personal hygiene

- Physical Demands Factor - Medium Work:
Exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Starting Salary is Grade 6 - $22.98 per hour
Work Hours:
37.5 hours per week
Work Calendar: 185 days
