Position Summary

The College Pastor provides spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and ministry oversight for college-aged adults (18–24) at Southwest Community Church (SCC). This role exists to help young adults know Jesus deeply, grow in biblical community, and live on mission. The College Pastor will lead our college ministry, contribute to churchwide teaching and preaching, and serve the church family for the Glory of God.

College Pastor Responsibilities
  • Campus Ministry
    • Develop, disciple, and deploy college-aged adults in and around the Littleton area.
    • Lead weekly college gatherings, including worship, teaching, and small groups.
    • Build a visible, consistent presence at local campuses (e.g., ACC, MSU Denver, CU Denver, Colorado Christian University).
    • Create outreach opportunities designed to connect unchurched and de-churched students with SCC.
    • Provide pastoral care, counseling, and mentorship for college students.
    • Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders for college ministry.
    • Plan and lead retreats, mission trips, and service opportunities targeting college-aged adults.
    • Cultivate a culture of discipleship through intentional relationships and structured pathways.
  • Teaching Team
    • Serve as a contributing member of the SCC Teaching Team.
    • Participate in sermon planning meetings as requested by the Lead Pastor.
    • Preach in Sunday services periodically throughout the year.
    • Teach in ministry environments such as classes, workshops, college gatherings, and student events.
    • Ensure all teaching is biblically faithful, gospel-centered, culturally relevant, and aligned with SCC doctrine.
    • Support churchwide theological development, including writing or co-writing curriculum as needed.
  • Additional Ministries
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and pastoral support for another area of ministry, according to individual gifts, abilities, and passions, along with specific needs within the church
  • Qualifications
    • A clear, mature, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • A lifestyle consistent with the spiritual and moral standards of Scripture.
    • Bachelor’s degree required; seminary degree or pastoral ministry training preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in college, youth, or young adult ministry.
    • Proven ability to preach and teach effectively.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with staff, volunteers, and students.
    • Strong relational ability with young adults and families alike.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for ministry activities.
    • Agreement with SCC’s mission, vision, and doctrinal statement.

    • High relational capacity with strong communication skills.
    • Self-starter who can build ministry environments and teams from the ground up.
    • Passionate about reaching and discipling the next generation.
