Overview
DSL Express and partners are hiring class A CDL solo truck drivers for OTR. We are seeking drivers with 2+ years of experience and a decent MVR/PSP score. Position available ASAP.
Pay is performance based. We offer a 30% percentage pay option with the option to switch to miles pay. Solo drivers on percentage typically earn well over $100k per year, with potential for higher as volumes remain strong throughout the year.
Preferred Percentage Based Solo Driver Pay:
- We are paying up to 30% line haul plus bonuses. In this post-COVID market, drivers drive less and can make more on this structure.
- Average pay in the off-season is typically $1,900–$2,100 per week, with occasional weeks around $2,400+ and rare slow weeks around $1,500.
- Average pay in peak season is typically $2,100–$2,400 per week, with occasional weeks around $2,700+ and rare slow weeks around $1,900.
- Average miles on percentage pay are reduced on purpose to save fuel and because contracts pay more per mile. Typical miles range from 2,000–2,500 in slow season and up to 3,000 in busy periods. You can avoid chasing high-mileage targets while still earning more and have time at stops with more predictable appointment times.
Standard Miles Based Solo Driver Pay:
- Drivers have the option to switch to miles pay (up to 65 cents per mile plus bonuses, depending on experience and MVR; higher rates for manual transmissions).
- Average miles when on miles pay are typically 2,500–3,600 per week.
- The average gross income is roughly $1,600–$2,400 per week per driver (slightly lower for automatic transmissions).
Team Driver Pay (Miles Based Pay Only):
- Open to teams if you have a teammate eligible to drive together.
- Up to 75 cents per mile plus bonuses, depending on experience and MVRs of the team.
- Average miles when on miles pay are typically 5,500–7,000 per week (recently middle to lower side).
- The average gross income is $4,100–$5,200 per week total split (roughly $2,000–$2,600 per week per team driver).
- Note:
This market is not the primary focus right now; solo drivers on percentage generally perform better, especially when running on percentage.
