Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Objective
To perform a variety of advanced journey level skilled/technical maintenance and major repair services on diesel and gasoline engines, components, electrical systems, and transmissions of City vehicles and heavy equipment; provides mechanical assistance to other employees; performs diagnostic testing.
This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school or vocational-technical course in automotive mechanics and two years experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance, malfunction diagnosis, and repair. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Additional Requirements- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position and must possess a valid Arkansas Class B (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License within ninety (90) days of employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must possess the tools required for this position by the Department of Fleet Services within thirty (30) days of employment and maintain required tools in working condition for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must be available to work nights, holidays, and weekends and respond to emergency calls as required.
