Overview
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) offers a PRN position in the Labor & Delivery Unit (E5) in the Harry P. Ward Clinical Tower. The unit includes 14 LDR rooms, four triage beds, two operating room suites, a three-bed recovery area, and Neonatal Stabilization rooms. UAMS provides high-risk obstetrical care and supports patient- and family-centered care. This role requires RN responsibilities in direct patient care in Labor & Delivery.

Job Duties
"This is a PRN position". The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Labor & Delivery Unit. The unit sees approximately 300-330 deliveries per month and supports labor, delivery, and recovery with family involvement when stable.
Responsibilities- Collects and documents assessment data.
- Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
- Implements the POC including medical orders and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Evaluates patient progress toward outcomes.
- Provides patient/family education and discharge planning.
- Administers medications per standard and communicates drug information to patients/families.
- Acts as a resource and supports others; delivers care using the defined nursing modality.
- Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, job description, and education level.
- Contributes to a positive work environment and serves as a resource for student nurses and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor of Nursing, or Master’s in Nursing.
- Valid RN License.
- One (1) year Registered Nursing experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong work ethics and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 or more years nursing experience with current BLS.
- Previous experience in Labor & Delivery.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in PPE, including N95 masks, PAPR, or CAPR.
Salary InformationCommensurate with education and experience.
