Overview
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in Medical Oncology/Transplant (E7). This unit has 28 private rooms and offers state-of-the-art therapies, including stem cell transplant. The nursing role involves chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, management of IV central access devices, symptom management, and emotional support and palliative care, within a strong interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers.
Responsibilities- Delivers nursing care for patients within the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards.
- Adheres to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and applicable standards for the specialty population with support and mentoring from team members.
- Collects and documents assessment data; develops a Plan of Care (POC); implements the POC including medical orders and interdisciplinary collaboration; evaluates progress toward outcomes.
- Provides patient/family education and discharge planning. Administers medications per standard and communicates drug information to patients and families.
- Acts as a resource and supports others. Delivers patient care using the defined nursing modality.
- Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal/regulatory requirements, job description, and education level.
- Contributes to a positive work environment that supports clinical education and serves as a resource for student nurses and staff.
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor’s in Nursing, or Master’s in Nursing
- Valid RN License
- One (1) year of Registered Nursing experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Strong work ethic and accountability
Preferred:
- Two (2) years or more nursing experience with current BLS
- Med/Surg or Oncology experience
- Chemotherapy Certification
