Job DescriptionThe registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing nursing skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The role requires strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism. The RN will direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Room.
- Implement the nursing process, ensuring assessment, diagnosis, planning, and evaluation.
- Facilitate patient teaching and coordinate quality/safety initiatives.
- Serve as Charge Nurse, assuming responsibility for unit activities and inter‑department communication.
- Participate in peer review and produce educational bulletin boards or posters for staff and patients.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date portfolio and meet Professional Practice Ladder requirements.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN, or ADN) – required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) – preferred.
- Minimum of 1,872 full‑time or part‑time hours of RN experience (or 936 hours if holding a BSN). Completion of a performance evaluation is required.
- RN License – required (licensed or pending licensure in Virginia under the Virginia Board of Nursing Regulations).
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – required. New hires must provide AHA‑approved certification before orientation.
- Relevant specialty certification – preferred.
- Meets all requirements of RN I.
- Competent in caring for patients across cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological stages of development.
