Position: RN - Short Stay/Transitional Care Units (A4/A7)

RN - Short Stay/Transitional Care Units (A4/A7)

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the combined Transitional Care (A7) and Short Stay (A4) units. The A7/A4 unit consists of 27 adult medical‑surgical beds. These units have smaller bed capacity and medically stable patients, allowing the RN and LPN team model of care to be fully implemented. A shared charge RN will oversee shift‑to‑shift operations of both units, providing staffing flexibility tailored to meet the changing care needs of these populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adhere to institutional policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and specialty patient population standards, with support and mentoring by other team members.
  • Collect and document assessment data.
  • Develop a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
  • Implement the POC, including medical orders and an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Evaluate the progress of patients toward desired outcomes.
  • Provide effective patient/family education and discharge planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor’s in Nursing, or Master’s in Nursing.
  • Valid RN License.
  • One (1) year of registered nursing direct patient care experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong work ethics and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Certification.
  • BSN or MSN.
  • Two (2) or more years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in an acute care setting such as a teaching hospital.
