Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring at least three years of recent PICU experience, prior travel assignments, and AR or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities- Work in a 26-bed Pediatric ICU within a Level 1 trauma, teaching hospital
- May float to NICU, CVICU, IMU, or Burn ICU as needed, with travelers prioritized to float
- Schedule is 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities; holiday coverage required as needed
- Patient ratios: PICU 1:1-2, IMCU 1:3-4
- Patient population includes respiratory distress, CRRT, ECMO, post arrest, trauma, neuro, various surgical post-ops, burns (if intubated and under 13), and DKA
- IMCU treats respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, trachs, and step-down PICU cases
- EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication system are used; recent EPIC experience required
- Advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, attending MDs, and CNAs/PCTs support the team
- Duties include caring for critically ill pediatric patients in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Nurses may occasionally float within the ICU cluster, including NICU, CVICU, IMU, and Burn ICU
- Orientation period includes unit-specific training and specialty testing
- Dress code must be followed according to facility requirements
- Holiday coverage is required based on unit needs
- Two parents are allowed to stay at the bedside
- Child Life and Education specialists are available for long-term pediatric patients
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Active AR or compact RN license required
- Minimum three years of recent PICU RN experience required
- At least one prior travel assignment required
- Recent EPIC EMR experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Must pass fit test; no facial hair unless for religious reasons
- Candidate must test negative for nicotine
- Specialty testing and 2-3 days orientation required prior to starting
