Communications Operator

job objective

to receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, medical, and other public safety services; gathers essential information, determines the nature and priority of the call, and dispatches appropriate response units in compliance with all applicable guidelines, policies, procedures, and protocols.

• must possess arkansas crime information center (acic)/national crime information center (ncic) level 1-basic terminal operator and level 2-advanced operator certifications within one (1) year of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
• must be available to work outside of regular business hours to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required to include twenty-four (24) hour on-call work availability and/or various twelve (12) hour shift assignments and overtime as required.
• prior to any exposure to criminal justice information must obtain criminal justice information system (cjis) security and privacy certification and maintain the certification for the duration of employment in this position.
