the nurse manager is responsible for the monitoring, oversight, and organizational management of the ocs survey unit. This unit completes on‑site inspections of home and community based service (hcbs). The nurse manager reviews facility reports for accuracy and provides assistance to subordinate staff. The nurse manager works in an administrative capacity by overseeing the survey unit in the division of provider services and quality assurance (dpsqa) office of community services.

This position will have the primary responsibility for hiring activities for the survey positions, including serving as hiring official, conducting interviews, selecting candidates, and submitting for approval to leadership. The position will be responsible for reviewing all survey visit outcomes and ensuring deficiencies identified are properly supported and the quality of reporting is sufficient and clear. It is responsible for preparing the state’s evidence for any informal dispute resolution hearing or appeal hearing and representing the division during that hearing in whatever form is applicable (desk review, in person, telephone conference).

It will maintain data reporting for all appeals, including standard information on the facility and specific rules being appealed, overturn rating, and identify potential areas of training for staff. The nurse manager will collect and analyze data on survey activities and discuss with the assistant director to evaluate and identify areas of concern, training opportunities, or recognition.
