Position: BSM - COMPOSITES I (MFG)
JOB SUMMARY:

Build aircraft parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies using blueprints, CATIA / 3DX, company standards and/or work instructions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Accesses daily MES using  password in order to identify priority assignments from the Work Queue; and reviews work order, Layup, "FOOs", "IOOs", and checks parts specifications.

Cuts, shapes, and trims composite materials using knives, scissors, and other hand tools, portable power tools, or bench-mounted tools.

Drills panels to provide tooling holes, fill voids, access areas, and/or insert parts into panels according to specifications using templates or hand tools (i.e., power drills, jigs).

Ensures burn coupons are secured with shell components and CRS/green tags are attached to back of panel; and applies tape to cover, as needed.

Enters regularly all parts and adhesive data information such as part numbers, lot numbers, and expirations for glues, epoxy, materials, etc. into shop notes of MES according to specifications of parts.

Inspects and confirms shell component assembly and trim activities are completed by entering information into MES; lifts and transports panels by hand or with the assistance of others prior to submitting component for an inspection.

Locates cut-outs, measures, and cuts composites to specified dimensions from FES specifications using measuring (e.g., tape measure, scales, calipers, protractors) and cutting instruments (e.g., jigsaws, hole-saws, skill saws).

Marks identification of shell components using permanent markers with such information part number or plan/work order number numbers.

Reviews, researches, and compares composite parts of work order manifests (kits) to parts listed in the MES plan; and verify necessary parts to the model (CATIA / 3DX).

Trims, "deburr"s, and sands excess materials from shell components and parts for smooth finishes according to specifications, FES, and FPS.

Verifies burn part numbers and matches them to panel parts and CRS Green tag; records previous manufacturing data by entering data into shop notes (MES) or data blocks prior to installing and applying required parts to shell components.

Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following safety signs, policies, and procedures, and by wearing personal protective equipment.

Installs and applies necessary parts (i.e., rivets, shim, inserts, hardware, screws, spacers) to shell components (i.e., valances, headliners, etc.) according to specifications (e.g., 2D, DCP, CATIA, 3DX), FES, FPS.

Makes composite cut-outs of shell components by hand and using hand tools such as drills, hole-saw, jigsaws, sanders, handmade tools, & templates according to the model (e.g., 2D, CATIA 3DX, QECS); and applies edge-fill to smooth and protect edges, as needed.

Measures specific hardware (e.g., rivets, screws) depths and sizes according to required specifications of the model (e.g., CATIA, 3DX, 2

Ds); and records any parts substitutions or parts installed per specification (FES
102), as needed.

Uses laser projector and Holo lens to accurately identify locations of hard-spot or cutouts of shell components; and marks layout points.

Operate Eurotherm oven recording software and add report link to MES order.

Using lift to load and unload ovens and retrieve tools from storage location. Ensure tools are covered and cleaned when stored and in use.

NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Maintains a clean and organized work area.

Completes tasks within assigned work times.

Determines work to be accomplished to complete assignments within established schedules and plans accordingly.

Accurately logs computerized labor data collection for time and attendance tracking.

Assists other personnel on specific job assignments.

Sets up and operates standard shop equipment.

Conceives and manufactures shop aid tools, as necessary, to improve repetitiveness and cost with approval of management.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Able to set up and operate all standard shop equipment.

Comply with all safety requirements per company policy.
