Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provides professional guidance and support for the injection molding production network.
- Implements best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all injection molding sites.
- Supports sites in process optimization and control, such as cost reduction, quality improvement, etc.
- Develops and drives professional training in Injection Molding.
- Supports standardized injection molding processes.
- Fosters collaboration, sharing knowledge, and driving innovation across the organization's injection molding operations to enhance operational performance and competitive advantage.
- Provides technical support in procurement of injection molding machines (specification, acceptance test, ramp up)
- Supports sites in mold concept design, shrinkage and mold qualification.
- Explores Injection Molding technology trends relevant for GF.
- Performs feasibility test for new technologies and processes.
- Keeps innovative technology in injection molding of equipment, processes and automation.
- Trains/ mentors Manufacturing/Process Engineers, Process Specialists and Manufacturing Maintenance Technicians.
- Works closely with manufacturing groups to maintain a seamless transition of new molds and new equipment to production.
- Maintains a safe work environment adhering to all safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Excellent communication skills with all levels within the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft software package.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, NX and/or Solid Works, Moldflow.
- High‑energy individual who is goal‑oriented and results‑driven.
- Ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
- Proven self‑starter: takes the initiative to identify and drive change.
- Ability to plan time, manage deadlines, and multi‑task.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to use measurement equipment to include calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Knowledge of processing materials through various types (makes) of extrusion and injection molding machines.
- Understanding of tool design & methods for mass production capabilities.
- Strong technical report writing skills.
- Strong and analytical skills.
- Understanding behavior of different types of plastics – Vinyl plastics (PVC, CPVC) and Polyolefins a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mold design.
- Ability to travel 50% or more.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, plastics/polymer engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands‑on experience in injection molding process engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with semi‑crystalline and amorphous plastics and ability to process materials through various types (makes) of injection molding and extrusion machines.
- Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing plastic processing, including shrinkage management, mold qualification, post‑molding operations, auxiliary equipment integration, and product testing.
- Experience with root cause analysis techniques.
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to machine noise.
- Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production area.
- Working conditions are normal for a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Work may involve lifting materials and products up to 50 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
- Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, and work boots.
- This role may require walking in a non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing environment.
- Up to 30% domestic travel required.
