Summary of

Job Duties:

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Acute Care Cardiology (CPS-Cards) will provide consultative assistance to providers, nurses, and other ancillary staff of the inpatient cardiology services along with providing pharmaceutical care to patients for their acute care hospitalization. Job responsibilities for the CPS-Cards include daily rounding with the interdisciplinary team, medication review, participation in a pharmacokinetics monitoring service, answering drug information questions for the medical and nursing staff, collaborating with the other CPS daily, and acting as the liaison between non-critical care cardiology and the pharmacy.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy Degree.
  • PGY1 residency training OR 3 years of applicable experience, AR licensure, or eligible for licensure.
  • Certification as a licensed Registered Pharmacist by the State of Arkansas or eligibility for licensure. Must have a license by the start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency
  • Experience in transitions of care and discharging of adult cardiology patients.
  • Previous adult medicine clinical experience, preferably in cardiology (inpatient).

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees patient care functions, including maintaining accurate records and refining medication therapies to improve treatment results.
  • Handles task prioritization, adjusts to shifts in practice, and addresses day-to-day operational challenges. Adhere to pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Provides training and instruction to staff members and pharmacy students.
  • Participates in initiatives for process enhancement, policy revisions, or research activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
