Summary:
The Patient Services Associate (PSA) for the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) General Adult Inpatient Unit provides clerical and patient care support under supervision of the Clinical Services Manager and RN. Duties include clerical tasks, processing patient admissions/discharges, and frontline patient care activities within competency limits.

- Provide clerical support: processing medical records for admission and discharge, and serve as receptionist for the nursing unit.
- Assist with patient care tasks as directed by RN and team members, following Plan of Care and unit standards.
- Communicate patient information to the RN, document care tasks, vital signs, and other required data accurately and promptly.
- Support with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient transport as directed.
- Adhere to safety, privacy, and department guidelines; escalate issues as needed.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 1 year of work experience in the Health Care field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to follow written and verbal instructions, and follow Guest Care guidelines
- Successful completion of the UAMS PCT and PSC courses
- Assists patients and visitors with information and problem-solving; notifies appropriate staff of urgent issues
- Assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges; transports patients as directed
- Performs direct patient care under RN direction; documents care tasks, vital signs, and I&O per standards
- Communicates with team to facilitate patient care; supports multidisciplinary Plan of Care
- Performs other duties as needed
- Stand, walk, sit as listed; frequent lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional bending and reaching
- Continuous talking and hearing; color vision and depth perception required
