Overview
The Phlebotomist position supports all sections of the Clinical Outpatient Laboratory and Cancer Institute blood draw center through proper phlebotomy techniques as well as proper specimen accessioning, processing and related activities. Follows all UAMS Department of Pathology Policies and Procedures for blood collection. This position obtains patient specimens at an acceptable rate and may assist with Access Coordinator responsibilities including opening/closing of clinic and training of new employees.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School, GED or formal education equivalent.
- 4 years of laboratory experience
- National phlebotomy certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 or more years of experience working in a clinical laboratory and experience as a medical assistant
- CPR, CAN, PBT, MLA, or CPT Certification

- Support duties:
Assists internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service. - Navigates EPIC to register the patient in the absence of Access Coordinators in the department. Responsible for knowing the process of EPIC downtime and recovery.
- Responsible for ensuring adequate inventory on hand in the work area to perform patient care duties. Assist with periodic inventory counts, report shortages and problems to supervisor or manager as they occur.
- Perform non-patient facing duties such as stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and utilizing email as appropriate.
- Assists with covering Access Coordinator duties as needed.
- Trains new employees and students.
- Serves as a Co-Safety Officer for the Department.
- Assists with ordering supplies.
