* Previous clinical laboratory experience
* Provide direct patient care by supplying the patient with appropriate blood components as determined by accurate testing to ensure the patient receives the appropriate blood components.
* Responsible for performing ABO/Rh, IAT, DAT, antibody identification, cross-matching units of blood, and running the automated ABO/RH, IAT equipment.
* wash red blood cells and plasma.
* Perform platelet cross matching and platelet antibody identification.
* Perform daily reagent QC and equipment preventive maintenance.
* Issue blood and blood components to the floors. UAMS is a level one trauma center, so in this position, the staff member is required to understand the importance of massive trauma and to issue blood and blood components as set forth in the Massive Transfusion Protocol.
* Communicate effectively with the blood bank customers, including physicians, nurses, and other UAMS staff members.
* Receive samples and to ensure all samples are appropriately labeled and collected properly for the blood bank.
* Assist in the training of new staff and students. The staff member is required to maintain their competency and train on all revised and new policy/procedures on time.
* Report any deviation from standard operating procedures to the supervisor on time.
* Perform daily reagent QC and equipment Preventive maintenance with 100% accuracy.
* Assist with the performance of Quarterly, Semi-annual, and Annual quality control.
* Other duties as assigned.
