The Data Center Commissioning Manager leads and executes end-to-end commissioning for mission-critical data centers, ensuring all MEP, controls, and life-safety systems are installed, tested, and operating to design, safety, and performance standards. This role collaborates with construction, design, vendors, and operations to deliver a fully validated facility ready for handover to the Client
.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full, multi-level commissioning process.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, scripts, and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE, and Uptime Institute best practices.
Project Management
  • Coordinate daily with construction, engineering, vendors, and operations teams.
  • Track progress, manage risks, and maintain commissioning milestones.
  • Provide regular stakeholder reporting on testing, issues, and completion status.
Technical Oversight
  • Oversee functional testing of critical systems including UPS, generators, switch gear, HVAC/cooling, BAS/EPMS, and fire protection.
  • Verify system integration, redundancy, failover, alarms, and control logic.
Quality & Documentation
  • Manage all commissioning documentation (FAT/SAT, installation checks, IST).
  • Track and close deficiencies and punch-list items.
  • Deliver final reports and turnover packages.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce safety during testing and energization.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, manufacturer requirements, and Client standards.
  • Support EHS plans throughout commissioning.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • 7+ years commissioning in mission-critical or industrial environments.
  • Experience leading large data center or hyperscale projects.
Technical Skills
  • Strong MEP, controls, SCADA/BMS/EPMS expertise.
  • Understanding of N, N+1, 2N, concurrent maintainability, and fault tolerance.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
Soft Skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Certification
  • CxA / BCxP / CCP / CPMP
  • Data center certifications (Uptime, BICSI, DCPro)
  • PE license, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E (preferred)
Physical & Work Environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs).
  • Work around mechanical spaces and high-voltage systems with strict PPE and safety protocols.
