Job ObjectiveThe Summer Youth Employment Opportunity (SYEO) provides the City of Little Rock's youth between the ages of 16-21 (Youth Interns) with paid summer employment, including training, for up to six weeks during the summer months. SYEO also provides training on job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, and opportunities to continue educational and social growth.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and no older than 21 by June 1, 2026.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This year's Summer Youth Employment Opportunity (SYEO) job placements will only be offered to applicants who complete the preboarding and onboarding processes. Placement will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so please make sure to read all instructions and supplemental questions carefully to complete your application correctly.
Attendance at the Parent/Youth Informational Session is strongly encouraged for parents and youth participants ages 18 and under. Youth participants ages 18 and older are urged to attend to fully prepare for participation, with or without a parent or guardian. Additional information will be shared once onboarding is complete.
Successful applicants will assist with basic administrative, clerical, customer service, recreational, or maintenance duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Report to their assigned worksite on time and maintain regular attendance
- Follow supervisor instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately
- Demonstrate professionalism, including appropriate workplace behavior and communication
- Participate in required job readiness and financial literacy training sessions
- Maintain a safe and respectful work environment
- Communicate questions or concerns to their supervisor or program staff promptly
- Comply with all City policies, safety guidelines, and program expectations
- Complete timesheets and required program documentation accurately and on time
- Be a verified resident of the City of Little Rock.
- Be between the ages of 16 and 21 (Youth Interns). Applicants must be at least 16 years old and no older than 21 by June 1, 2026.

Note to ParentsThe youth participant must complete the application and supplemental questions themselves. A key goal of the program is to help participants learn how to apply for jobs, complete training, and build workplace skills.
