Title: Education Program Coordinator (Special Education Supervisor)

Provides expertise for the Arkansas Consolidated High School (ACHS) system as District Special Education Coordinator, ensuring compliance with ADOE and that students receive FAPE.
Responsibilities- Serve as the ACHS District Special Education Coordinator and oversee day‑to‑day operations of the special education program.
- Maintain records, review and counsel on all special education paperwork, timelines, and communicate with the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and State legislation for students with exceptionalities.
- Coordinate transition of students from ACHS to public schools with correct paperwork.
- Organize special education staff development and maintain communication with DYS, contractors, school districts, facilities, parents, state department, and community.
- Develop, monitor, and manage all special education funding sources and overall program design.
- Handle litigation including due process, mediation, and resolution meetings required by federal law.
- Collaborate with superintendent and HR to meet staffing needs.
- Prepare necessary reports for the Superintendent and Director of DYS.
- Monitor implementation of Individual Education Plans at residential institutions and inform superintendent of trends.
- Attend and assist in planning Professional Development for the collaborative PD with DYS and contractors.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report contractor compliance with contract guidelines.
- Apply knowledge of federal and state laws regarding licensure, educational training program development, teaching principles and methods.
- Research, develop, evaluate, and review educational training programs.
- Prepare reports and maintain records.
- Review and analyze applications and supporting documentation.
- Present ideas and information to large and diverse groups.
- Education: Master’s degree in special education, Educational Leadership, Administration, Curriculum and Development, or related field.
- License code 341 – Supervisor Special Education K‑12.
- Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Administration, or a related field. - Minimum 4 years of experience in educational administration or related field.
- Knowledge of educational principles, practices, and program development.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing budgets and resources.
- Ability to collaborate with educators, administrators, and community partners.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to education.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Empathy and patience in working with educators, students, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in administrative and educational technology tools and software.
