Job Duties:
This position is responsible for implementing and overseeing the K-12 education program. Will represent Keep Arkansas Beautiful elops, implements and measures programs to educate and inspire regarding litter prevention, recycling, and beautification. Research and plan environmental education programs for various groups. Research and design multi‑media presentations to provide information and interpretation to schools and other groups. Conduct media interviews and exhibit booths at events to promote Keep Arkansas Beautiful.
Writes narratives, scripts, outlines, and descriptions as needed for initiatives and presentations. Research and develop partnerships with other state agencies, businesses, and organizations to expand programming and outreach. Collaborate with other staff members on all initiatives. Follows and supports state laws and agency policies and coordinate mission related activities with other appropriate agencies. Performs other duties as assigned. This position will require some work outside normal business hours and in‑state travel.
Must have a valid Arkansas Drivers’ License. Must be able to pick up 40 pounds. Must Pass pre‑employment criminal background check.
KAS:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging diverse audiences. Ability to translate complex historical or environmental topics into engaging and accessible content. Knowledge of interpretive methods, heritage tourism, and environmental education principles. Ability to develop and deliver age‑appropriate educational programs. Creativity in program design, storytelling, and interactive learning techniques. Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to handle guest inquiries and concerns.
Experience working with diverse audiences, including children, families, and school groups. Strong attention to detail and ability to conduct historical, cultural, or ecological research. Time management skills to balance programming, administrative tasks, and visitor interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least two years of experience in interpretive programming, environmental education, museums, education, or a related field. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
