Associate or Assistant Professor of Applied Communication (9-month tenure-track)

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applications for the position of a 9-month, tenure-track Associate or Assistant Professor of Applied Communication (R0080742). This position supports the department’s curricular and community-engaged mission by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Organizational Communication, Crisis Communication (with expertise in Discourse of Renewal), Leadership, Training & Development, and Research Methods, as well as teaching in the university’s core curriculum (COMM 10073: Introduction to Communication).

Teaching will occur in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive communication orientation, a collaborative student-centered working style, and a commitment to applied scholarship consistent with the department’s mission of helping individuals and organizations co-create better social worlds. The position includes maintaining an active research agenda; engaging in community-based or organizational partnerships that connect crisis and organizational communication to real-world practice; advising and mentoring students;

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field (ABD considered if degree is completed by time of employment).
  • Evidence of a research agenda in organizational, applied, or crisis communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in organizational and/or crisis communication at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
  • Scholarship, training, or consulting experience grounded in organizational resilience, organizational culture, organizational crisis response, Discourse of Renewal, or related frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in community-engaged or applied research.
  • Experience developing and facilitating training & development workshops for organizations or communities.
  • Commitment to the department’s mission emphasizing positive communication, collaboration, and applied learning.
