Position: Endocrinologist with focus on Obesity Management

Overview

The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking to hire a board certified/board eligible clinical endocrinologist with a focus on obesity management, at the assistant or associate professor level. The UAMS Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is part of the Department of Internal Medicine in the College of Medicine. Clinical faculty attend to the needs of patients with a variety of endocrine and metabolic problems and provide subspecialty training for physicians interested in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolism.

Clinical and research faculty conduct research in bone and mineral metabolism, osteoporosis, thyroid, diabetes, obesity, and lipids. This academically strong Division has a faculty of 8 clinicians, 4 clinical fellows, and 7 basic scientists.

Responsibilities
  • Time allocation: 90% clinical and 10% administrative/faculty development.
  • Clinical duties include 7 half-day outpatient clinics divided between obesity and general endocrinology clinics.
  • Attend inpatient consults for up to 3 months per year.
  • On-call duties for holidays and weekends are distributed equally among all members of the clinical faculty; on average, a maximum of 8 weekends and 2 major holidays per year per physician.
  • During outpatient clinic months, the afternoon clinic will be cancelled to allow time to see consults with the fellows.
  • The endocrinology outpatient clinics are staffed by dedicated nurses and medical assistants, one physician assistant, one advanced practice nurse, and a dietician/diabetes educator. The obesity clinic has a dedicated advanced practice nurse and a dietitian.
  • UAMS uses the EPIC/MyChart electronic record system.
Qualifications
  • Board certified or board eligible in endocrinology.
  • Focus on obesity management.
  • Academic appointment at the assistant or associate professor level.
