Arkansas Talent Group is seeking an Estimator for our client's rapidly growing construction company.
The Construction Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, competitive cost estimates that support preconstruction and bidding process, contributing directly to successful project acquisition and financial performance. This role partners closely with project leadership, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to analyze construction documents and market data, develop detailed quantity takeoffs and cost models, and help position the company to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Analyze drawings, specifications, scope documents, and project plans to understand requirements and deliver accurate cost assessments.
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and other direct costs using industry-standard estimating software and databases.
Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates at various stages of design and preconstruction.
Ensure estimates include indirect costs (overhead, bonds, permits, insurance), profit margins, and risk allowances to protect project financial integrity.
Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers; solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
Conduct market research on current pricing, labor rates, equipment costs, and supply chain trends to inform competitive bids.
Work collaboratively with preconstruction, project management, design, and field teams to ensure alignment between cost estimating and constructability considerations.
Present estimates and bid recommendations to leadership and stakeholders; communicate cost implications clearly and professionally.
Prepare and organize estimate documentation, assumptions, backup data, and comparison reports for internal review and recordkeeping.
Contribute to the development of historical cost data and estimating best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency over time.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience)
Experience with Pro Core preferred
3–7+ years of estimating experience with a general contractor, construction management firm, or related construction environment.
Proven ability to interpret construction documents and prepare competitive cost estimates for commercial projects.
Proficiency with estimating software, quantity takeoff tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate cost insights and collaborate across teams.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, labor markets, and cost structures.
Ability to work under tight bid deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
