The Payroll Accountant is responsible for ensuring the Payroll Department, system managers, and timekeepers are prepared for accurate and timely employee payments while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations concerning payroll, taxes, and employee benefits. This role maintains precise payroll records, assists with the processing, balancing, and analysis of the organization’s bi-weekly payroll, oversees employee deductions and expenses, reconciles general ledger accounts, generates ongoing month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting, and performs other assigned duties.
The accountant audits payroll information for accuracy and collaborates closely with the HR and Accounting departments to resolve discrepancies. They also participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects within the Payroll Department.

- EDUCATION
:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent is required. - EXPERIENCE
: A minimum of 3 years payroll experience processing all levels of payroll, prefer large companies (5,000+ employees).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
:
- Knowledge of payroll software such as Infor (formerly Lawson) is preferred.
- Knowledge of tax laws.
- Knowledge in designing and producing comprehensive computerized data queries, reports and computer data processing principles.
- Familiarity with HR and Accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft SQL is preferred.
- Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality and the ability to effectively organize, coordinate, and complete a wide range of concurrent activities.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize are highly important.
