Description
The Health, Safety & Environment Specialist plays a key role in supporting operational and safety goals by monitoring workplace conditions, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards, and partnering with leaders and employees to reduce risk and prevent injuries. This role facilitates safety training, conducts inspections and audits, and leads investigations into incidents, near misses, and hazards to drive continuous improvement across Sea View Farm operations.
WorkingConditions
- Mix of office, farm, and field environments
- Exposure to variable weather conditions typical of agricultural operations
- Approximately 30% travel between locations in Minnesota and North Dakota
- Review, revise, and implement OSHA‑ and company‑compliant health, safety, and environmental policies and programs
- Prepare and deliver safety training programs, including onboarding and ongoing employee education
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across farm sites
- Partner with managers, supervisors, and employees to promote proactive and preventative safety practices
- Investigate hazards, near misses, incidents, injuries, and safety violations; determine root causes and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and compliance reporting
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and risk reduction
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience (agriculture, manufacturing, or industrial settings preferred)
- Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field
- Certified Safety Specialist (CSS) or equivalent professional designation preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
- Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, solve problems, and analyze risk data
- Self‑starter capable of working independently in a decentralized, multi‑site environment
- Proven ability to build trust and rapport with employees while promoting a strong safety culture
- Effective time‑management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and locations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including safety training, coaching, and influencing leaders and frontline teams
- Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive, detail‑oriented approach to safety and risk management
- Experience in an agricultural or operational environment considered an asset
- Ability and willingness to travel to Canada
