Fully Onsite.
The Senior Automation Engineer provides support and optimises automated systems to enhance efficiency and streamline processes for sites in North America. They produce optimal cost, safety, quality, and compliance for manufacturing systems, serving as the primary point of contact for end‑to‑end MAKE Automation Systems, delivering project delivery, and ongoing operations support.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute a comprehensive automation support strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Standardise and leverage solutions across sites.
- Lead the support automation engineering team, delivering mentorship and technical expertise as part of a 24/7 rotation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Evaluate, select and integrate automation tools and technologies.
- Implement robust monitoring systems and proactively address issues.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of automated systems and workflows.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and security protocols.
- Collaborate with IT, developers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into automation solutions.
- Work with process scientists to develop and implement the technical transfer strategy.
- Investigate and execute corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality, safety, reliability, technical and manufacturing issues.
- Implement new applications or controlled changes to meet FDA and cGMP compliance.
- Identify, evaluate, select and implement third‑party systems, equipment and vendors, ensuring compliance with global standards.
- Education:
minimum of a BS in Engineering, Science or Technical Field. - Experience:
minimum 4 years of relevant business experience. - Management: minimum 3 years of people‑management experience with success in performance management and development.
- Industry: specific engineering or maintenance experience within consumer, OTC or pharmaceutical industries.
- Automation: proven experience in system automation with successful implementations.
- Programming: strong programming skills and custom automation scripts.
- Knowledge: in‑depth knowledge of automation tools and technologies.
- Leadership: leadership experience with ability to mentor and guide a team.
- Skills:
excellent problem‑solving, analytical, communication and collaboration skills. - Language: proficient in English.
- Advanced degree (Masters) in Engineering or MBA.
