Within our Retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day and our Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store, assisting patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience.
Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication. They ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while exceeding patient expectations.
- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, offering immunizations and other services, and solving or escalating patient problems.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc., as directed by pharmacy leadership.
- Show a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and embrace a high‑performing team culture.
- Remain flexible with scheduling and travel to support business needs, including voluntary travel to stores in the market.
- Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing) where permissible by law and supported by required training.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer them to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
- Monitor for adverse reactions and report events per public health requirements.
- Collect, track, and document vaccine patient information for each applicable patient.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain vaccine supplies.
- Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements covering age, education, licensure, and certification.
- Minimum age of 16 if not mandated by state board; otherwise state minimum.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in high school or equivalency program if not mandated by state board.
- State‑level licensure and national certification vary by state.
- 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and travel across the market to meet business needs.
