The Process Engineer Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for learning and subsequently implementing the Cornerstone Production System methodology on multiple production lines and across different systems and processes. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this role will be on‑site in Lithia Springs, GA and will work closely with the Operations team.
What You’ll Do- Design the ability to produce a quality product into the process.
- Identify and analyze manufacturing problems to control and improve manufacturing.
- Develop all necessary processes and audit documentation (e.g., Visual Work Instructions, Standard Work Combination Table, Process Control Adherence Audit, 5S).
- Assess existing processes for areas of improvement utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Six Sigma, designed experiment techniques, capability studies, etc.).
- Design and/or source equipment for manufacturing processes; evaluate and recommend implementation of competitive technology.
- Lead or work with plant maintenance to ensure facilities and equipment are maintained and updated consistent with short‑ and long‑term goals and objectives.
- Provide training, as required, to associates.
- Work with Quality Assurance to monitor and document quality standards.
- Develop dashboards and reports for leadership to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Present capstone project as directed at the conclusion of the internship program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working with AutoCAD, Inventor and/or Solid Works preferred.
