Direct Support Professional – Full Time – Litchfield ()
Location: Litchfield, CT Hours: 32.5 hours per week, full‑time, day support option.
Pay: $17.25 per hour.
Start date: Immediate.
Position type: Youth & Adult Developmental Services / Direct Support Professional (Day Support Option).
EdAdvance, one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs), partners with other RESCs to support state‑wide initiatives. EdAdvance exists to promote the success of school districts and their communities, redefining the role of a Regional Education Service Center through a systemic approach grounded in the “3

Due to a bona fide occupational qualification (safety reasons and the specific needs of the individual), EdAdvance is seeking male candidates for this position. A Direct Support Professional will assist individuals who meet eligibility criteria set by the Department of Developmental Services to achieve success in the Day Supports Options Program. The role reports to the Program Manager and/or the Program Coordinator.
MajorResponsibilities
- Provide direct supports to DDS‑funded individuals as described in their programs.
- Plan and implement appropriate activities for individuals in the program both in the community and on site.
- Assist manager in the screening of referrals.
- Safely transport individuals and maintain the agency vehicle.
- Train and supervise volunteers or employees at job sites, promoting positive work habits.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation, write required reports, and complete necessary data entry.
- Network and collaborate with other providers, families, and the community.
- Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and training.
- May need to transport individuals in own vehicle.
- Some lifting may be required.
- Regular and consistent attendance is essential.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Knowledge of related state and federal regulations.
- Valid CT driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform a physical restraint or willingness to be trained.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and alternate sit/stand as required.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field preferred. - Valid CT driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including effective problem solving, planning, and organizing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires pushing and pulling.
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
