The Lisle Park District is currently looking for motivated individuals, 18 & over, to serve as camp counselors at Creation Academy. We are searching for candidates who are reliable, creative, enthusiastic, and team players who love working with kids. Candidates with experience supervising children, skills in games, crafts and creative arts preferred.
- Staff Training:
Tuesday May 26th-Friday May 29th - Camp Dates:
June 1st-August 7th (no camp on 7/3) - 40 hours per week-10 weeks of camp
- Regular Camp
Hours:
Monday-Friday 9am-5pm - Starting pay range $ per hour based on qualifications
- Interviews will be scheduled for March & April
- The number of staff needed will be based on the number of returning staff
Job Responsibilities 2026
General Description:
Organizes and provides support and leadership for campers at Creation Academy Summer Arts Camp. Campers work together on a variety of fun projects and experience the joys of making art. Projects may include painting, drawing, mixed-media, sculpture, printmaking, performance and more. The Camp Counselor reports directly to the Recreation Manager - Camps and Special Events
Pre-Camp Planning
- Participate in staff orientation and training
- Assist Camp Manager in development of well-rounded camp activities, field trip locations and weekly themes for camp
- Recommend, develop and administer daily camp activities/projects providing campers an opportunity for growth
- Assist in weekly planning, organizing and implementing projects based on weekly themes
- Monitor and communicate behavior issues to manager and or participant guardians
- Supervise and participate in group activities
- Be accountable for the whereabouts and safety of all campers at all times. Especially during group activities and field trips
- Record keeping including attendance, sign in/out sheets and behavior reports
- Report any problems to the Camp Manager
- Fill out necessary accident forms
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meeting
- Act in a professional manner at all times
- Introduce yourself to parents at the beginning of each week
- Greet each parent and camper daily
- Administer first aid when necessary
- Successfully complete first aid and CPR & AED training before the start of camp. (Will be provided during camp training if not currently certified)
- Ensure proper use of supplies and equipment during activities
- Return supplies and equipment to their proper container
- Turn in requisitions for supplies
- Report damages or faulty equipment immediately
- Be available to work all 10 weeks of camp plus 1 week of training
- Follow camp procedures and policies at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Have the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- The ability to lead and participate in children’s activities and guide and teach different art mediums.
