Research Scientist
The Consultant is Broughton’s SME position. Providing expert advice and scientific knowledge to the toxicology team and to the clients. You will help to define the approach to regulatory submissions and other projects across our core areas of nicotine, cannabinoids and pharmaceuticals.
Location

-Hybrid, required to attend site as and when necessary
- Provide expert advice and guidance to our clients
- Support the production of regulatory dossiers for client projects
- Coach and mentor less experienced team members
This is not an exhaustive list, rather an overview of the tasks to be undertaken.
- Prepare toxicology profiles and perform hazard assessments for chemicals, including in silico assessments and expert review.
- Support the preparation of systematic toxicological literature reviews.
- Critically evaluate primary toxicology studies to summarize key findings, strengths, and study limitations
- Perform quantitative human health risk assessments of individual chemicals and chemical mixtures.
- Authorship of expert opinion reports
- Provide oversight and senior review of all deliverables, including toxicology profiles, hazard assessments (including in silico assessments), and risk assessment reports.
- Attendance and where appropriate, presentation on key topics, at Toxicology conferences.
- Work with Business Development team in responding to new client enquiries, assisting in preparation of statements of work, and attending client meetings.
- Work with Marketing team for provision of documents, articles and position pieces to aid in promoting the Broughton Toxicology team.
- Maintain awareness of industry standards and global regulatory guidelines.
- Development of personal skillset and expertise to strengthen companies position in new and emerging areas.
- Other tasks as appropriate.
Proven ability in technical writing and communication - ESSENTIAL
Proven ability to manage a project - ESSENTIAL
Experience with computational modelling software: OECD Toolbox, Tox Tree and Lhasa

Experience as author/co-author on academic papers - DESIRABLE
CRO or Client-facing background - DESIRABLE
Broughton Day
Option of a fixed day off every 2 or 3 weeks through salary sacrifice

25 days per annum plus statutory days

Bonus
£1,200 based on personal and company performance
Min. 10 years post grad in applied toxicology and risk assessment.
