Care Assistant

To assist nurses and provide care for the residents of the home.

• Assist nurses in the provision of nursing care, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure that specific instructions regarding the treatment and diet of the residents are carried out and recorded as directed, for example, fluid intake.
• Deal with residents at all times no matter how aggressive or confused they become.
• Ensure that the relatives of the residents are welcomed to the Home and shown hospitality.
• Assist in the care and preparation of the residents’ clothing and personal belongings.
• Ensure that the residents’ bedrooms are clean and odour free at all times and that they are fitted with well laundered and matching bed clothes.
• Ensure that residents, who require assistance with dressing and personal hygiene, are properly groomed and dressed at all times.
• Contribute to daily activities designed to entertain residents and to suggest further activities that can be carried out by staff within the Home.
• Assist in the admission and discharge of residents as directed.
• Observe and report any changes in the residents’ condition or behaviour, for example, appetite.
• Maintain accurate documentation as required.
• Carry out any other duties which may be reasonably required within the post.

• The ability to undertake caring duties and to work on own initiative.
• The ability to undertake the full range of tasks necessary to the residents’ care, comfort and safety.
• Flexibility to work shifts across a 7-day rota.
• Previous experience of working in a Care Home is preferred but not necessary.
