Are you an experienced procurement professional ready to take responsibility for a busy public sector procurement function? This is an excellent opportunity to join a large, well-established organisation as a Procurement Officer.

We are recruiting on behalf of a large team to appoint a Procurement Officer who will play a key role in developing the organisation's procurement function, providing expert advice and ensuring all procurement activity is compliant, efficient, and delivers value for money.

The role:
  • Provide professional procurement services, offering expert advice and guidance across a wide range of contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and best practice.
  • Plan, manage, and deliver procurement activities including quotations, tenders, contract awards, supplier management, and post-contract evaluation, while maintaining accurate contract registers and records.
  • Support and advise managers and staff on procurement strategies, specifications, bid evaluations, and value‑for‑money opportunities, including cost savings and service improvements.
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports on procurement activity for internal and external stakeholders, and respond to complaints, queries, or legal proceedings where required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of procurement policies, e‑business solutions, and IT systems, ensuring sustainability, equality, ethical standards, and compliance with UK and EU procurement legislation.
  • Support staff development and undertake other duties within grade, including asset disposal and participation in relevant meetings.
The Person

As the successful candidate, you will have the following background and experience:

Essential
  • A relevant qualification and proven experience working within a procurement role.
  • Experience providing procurement advice and guidance to stakeholders at varying levels within an organisation.
